The famous climb of Izoard
Finally last year 2017, I rode up to Col d’Izoard starting from Guillestre. Cyclistically it is more famous from Guillestre. You climb for about 15 km in the middle of the gorge dug by the river, in the middle of the rock, passing through some short tunnels. You go up in a light and steady climb. It is one of the epic climbs of the Tour de France.
Then the serpentines begin, with some nice pass in the woods, and the slope is sometimes hard. After the serpentines a downhill stretch leads to the Casse Desertes: it is the famous lunar landscape that has made history in cycling. Still 1 km, two serpentines and you arrive with a tower and a shelter on the summit.
Such a nice feeling to get to the top!!!! Happy riding everyone!
